FAQ: Arizona Fairs Association and the IAFE Convention in Phoenix, December 2024

What is the IAFE Convention?

The International Association of Fairs and Expositions (IAFE) Convention is an annual gathering of fair industry professionals. It features educational sessions, showcases, and a tradeshow that provide valuable insights and networking opportunities for attendees involved in fairs, festivals, and related events.

Will there be an AFA Convention in 2024?

There will not be an AFA Convention in 2024. We are however encouraging everyone (fairs and associate members) to attend the IAFE convention in Phoenix. The convention will be held December 1st through 4th. This incredible opportunity to attend this renowned event in our own Arizona backyard is a once in a lifetime deal. Nationally known speakers, a huge tradeshow, lots of showcases, and incredible educational sessions are just some of what you’ll experience.

AFA will be holding a reception/get together for all AFA members and guests. This will give us the chance to connect with each other and socialize too. There may be multiple occasions to do things as a group. We will stay in touch with more information as it comes available.

What specific events and sessions will be available?

The convention schedule includes:

• Keynote presentations from industry leaders

• Breakout sessions focused on marketing, operations, sponsorship, agricultural programming, and more

• Roundtable discussions to share challenges and solutions

• A large tradeshow featuring the latest innovations and services

• LOTS of Networking Opportunities

How can I register for the convention?

Registration details are available on the IAFE website. Registration opens on or about July 1st. All Arizona Fairs are current members of IAFE.

Where can I find accommodations?

A list of recommended hotels and special rates for convention attendees is posted on the IAFE website. Early booking is recommended as accommodations fill up quickly due to the convention’s popularity. We recommend the Sheraton or Renaissance as they are the closest (in steps) to the actual convention, although all of the host hotels are VERY close!

Is there financial support available for attending?

How can I get together directly with the Arizona Fair Managers and other connected to AFA?

AFA will be holding a get-together reception. It will be for AFA fair members, associate members and possible legislators. More information will follow including date, time and location.
